Bryan's Rants
...it's just an opinion

The Best and Worst of 2005
With movie attendance sinking and record sales plummeting, I know the entertainment industry would love to forget 2005. Not so fast! (more)

The Best and Worst of 2004
It seems a little indulgent, coming up with a list of what I did and didn’t like in film and music over the last year. Then again, I’m assuming you’re like me and love to read lists—to feel vindicated because someone else thinks your new favorite CD is really excellent or to fuel the rage against no-nothing critics who leave out your favorite movie of the year. (more)

Passionate Bias
I saw The Passion of the Christ several months ago...Besides being handed my heart on a platter by this astonishing artistic achievement, I had one burning question—how will other critics react? I knew many would hate the subject matter simply because Jesus isn’t the most popular guy among the cultural elite. Would they be able to set aside their bias to at least objectively acknowledge The Passion as a stunning work of art? (more)

Best and Worst of 2003
I finally got jealous of all the "best of" lists being thrown around the media—hailing this, that, and the other as the greatest piece of art/life/cake since the fall of Rome...As a media-type guru person, it’s my obligation to sound off on all the stuff I dug and cast weighty, jagged-edged stones at the dreck. Mind Over News Media

Best & Worst of 2001
As a bona fide critic, it’s my duty to produce a Top Ten list of all my likes and dislikes—as well as additional random categories. I’ve reviewed most of the CDs and movies that you'll find here…so click on links if you’d like more details. (more)

Stomping on #3
We’re deep into awards season. Various celebrities and power brokers are strutting on stage and picking up pieces of metal and plastic that somehow validate them as the "best" of the year at something...I'm always struck by the way everyone's forgotten a certain commandment... (more)

Look, Ma, A Falling Dove!
The Christian music industry has finally beaten unholy Hollywood at its own game. CCM has its very own bad boy—Ja’Marc Davis. The lead singer and founder of the dance/pop group Raze recently had his mug shot taken after being accused of having an 18-month sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl (hellooo, Lolita). (more)

Ya Got Any Books?
After countless hours spent ingesting all forms of media and spitting it back out into insightful Bible studies and discussion starters, I decided it was time for some meaty spiritual input. To help me go beyond my usual prayer time and Bible study, I figured I’d pick up a book that would give my brain a workout. (more)
